A new air conditioner should keep your whole house comfortable through a humid Toronto summer without driving up your hydro bill. GTA Home Comfort is a local, owner-operated HVAC business based in Scarborough, installing central air conditioners and ductless mini-splits across Scarborough, Toronto, East York, North York, Markham, Pickering and Ajax.

We start with your house, not a sales sheet. The right system depends on your home’s size, insulation, windows, ductwork and which rooms get the afternoon sun.

When it is time for a new air conditioner

  • Your air conditioner is roughly 12–15 years old or older
  • It needs repairs every summer and costs keep adding up
  • It uses an older refrigerant that is expensive to recharge
  • The house never feels cool or dry enough on humid days
  • Hydro bills keep rising even though your usage has not changed
  • You are replacing your furnace and want matched equipment
  • Your home has no ductwork and you want cooling for the first time

How we size and install your system

An oversized air conditioner cools the house quickly but shuts off before it removes the humidity, leaving rooms cold and clammy. An undersized one runs all afternoon and never catches up. We look at your home’s size, insulation, windows and existing ductwork to recommend the right capacity.

Installation covers removing the old equipment, setting the outdoor unit on a level pad, installing the indoor coil, running and sealing the refrigerant lines, connecting the electrical and condensate drain, then testing pressures and airflow. We leave the work area clean and show you how the system and thermostat work.

Central air, ductless or a heat pump?

If your home has ductwork, central air is usually the simplest choice. Older homes without ducts, additions and finished attics are often better served by a ductless mini-split.

A heat pump looks and cools just like an air conditioner, but it can also heat your home through much of the winter. If you are replacing your AC anyway, ask us to compare the two for your home. See our heat pump page for more.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does an AC installation take?

Most straightforward replacements are finished in a single day. New installations, ductless systems and jobs that need electrical or ductwork changes can take longer. We will tell you before we start.

What size air conditioner do I need?

It depends on your home’s size, insulation, windows and ductwork. We assess the house rather than simply matching the old unit, which is often the wrong size.

Can you install AC in a house without ductwork?

Yes. Ductless mini-splits are designed for homes without ducts, and we can recommend a layout for your rooms.

Which areas do you install air conditioners in?

Scarborough, Toronto, East York, North York, Markham, Pickering and Ajax. Call to check if you are nearby.
