When a boiler stops working, the whole house cools down fast, and with a combi boiler you lose hot water too. GTA Home Comfort is a local, owner-operated HVAC business based in Scarborough. We repair gas boilers and combi boilers across Scarborough, Toronto, East York, North York, Markham, Pickering and Ajax, with 24/7 emergency service when the heat goes out.
Hot water heating systems have their own quirks, from air in the lines to failing circulator pumps. Every repair starts with a proper diagnosis, so you get a clear explanation and your options before any work begins.
Signs your boiler needs repair
- No heat, or the boiler runs but the radiators stay cold
- Some radiators heat up while others stay cold
- Banging, gurgling or kettling noises from the boiler or pipes
- Water leaking around the boiler, the pipes or a relief valve
- The pressure gauge reads too low or keeps climbing
- The boiler shows an error code or keeps locking out
- No hot water from a combi boiler
- The pilot light or burner keeps going out
Common boiler problems we fix
Many no-heat calls come down to a few parts: a failed circulator pump, a faulty igniter or flame sensor, a stuck zone valve, a bad pressure relief valve or expansion tank, a blocked condensate line on a high-efficiency boiler, or a control board fault. Air trapped in the system and low water pressure cause cold radiators and noisy pipes.
We carry common parts so many repairs are finished on the first visit. If a part has to be ordered, we tell you how long it will take and make sure the house is safe in the meantime.
Safety first: gas and carbon monoxide
If you smell gas, leave the house and call Enbridge Gas or 911 from outside before calling us. If your carbon monoxide alarm sounds, get everyone outside and call 911.
Gas appliance work in Ontario must be done by a TSSA-registered contractor. GTA Home Comfort is TSSA-licensed (#000396913), and every boiler repair includes a check of venting, combustion and safety controls.
Repair or replace?
Well-maintained boilers often last 20 years or more, so a repair is usually worth it. If your boiler is old, needs repairs every season, or the repair would cost a large share of a new unit, we will tell you honestly and walk you through both options. The decision is yours.
