A Toronto heat wave is no time to be without air conditioning, especially with kids, older relatives or anyone with health concerns at home. GTA Home Comfort is a local, owner-operated HVAC business based in Scarborough. We repair central air conditioners and ductless mini-splits across Scarborough, Toronto, East York, North York, Markham, Pickering and Ajax, with 24/7 emergency service.
Every repair starts with a proper diagnosis. We find out why the system failed, not just what to replace, so the same problem does not come back next week. You get a clear explanation and your options before any work begins.
Signs your air conditioner needs repair
- The AC runs but the air from the vents is warm
- The outdoor unit does not start, or the fan spins but the compressor does not
- Ice on the refrigerant lines or the indoor coil
- Water pooling around the furnace or indoor unit
- Buzzing, rattling, grinding or squealing noises
- The system turns on and off every few minutes
- Some rooms never cool down
- Hydro bills have jumped without a change in how you use the AC
Common AC problems we fix
Many no-cooling calls come down to a failed capacitor or contactor, a refrigerant leak, a dirty or frozen evaporator coil, a clogged condensate drain, a worn fan motor or a tripped breaker. A clogged furnace filter or an outdoor unit choked with cottonwood fluff and debris causes plenty more.
We carry common parts so many repairs are finished on the first visit. If a part has to be ordered, we tell you how long it will take.
Before you call
Check that the thermostat is set to cool and a few degrees below room temperature, that the breakers for the furnace and outdoor unit are on, and that the furnace filter is not clogged. If the lines or coil are iced up, switch the AC off and let it thaw before running it again. If none of that helps, call us.
Repair or replace?
A repair is usually the right call for an air conditioner under about 12 years old that is otherwise in good shape. If your system is older, needs repairs every summer, or uses an outdated refrigerant that is expensive to recharge, we will tell you honestly and walk you through both options. The decision is yours.
